About the Podcast

Unity In Shades
Unity In Shades,we are having conversations that are relevant not only to the African American community, but all communities of color. Focusing on issues that we are facing as individuals and in the community at large. Unity in Shades will provide a platform for open honest conversations without judgment. There are still so many of us who are dealing with issues of mental/behavioral health, physical health, financial health, and relationships in silence. Our desire is to generate more awareness of resources and facilitate connections. It is our goal to create a community where people feel safe to share and realize they are not alone. We look forward to hearing from voices that are not always given a platform to speak their truth, share their concerns, and be a part of the solution in making change. Guided by one of Palm Beach Counties’ native daughters Katrina Blackmon and various guests.

Katrina Blackmon

Katrina Blackmon is a native of Palm Beach County, born and raised in the cities of West Palm Beach and Riviera Beach. Katrina is a wife, mother of two grown sons, and has two adorable, amazing grandchildren. Katrina’s professional background consists of over twenty-five years' experience working in local, regional, and national advertising media.

Katrina is the Founder & CEO of Unity3 Palm Beach. A boutique consulting service. Katrina is living out her passion to work with sole proprietor owners, small to medium-sized businesses, and nonprofits as they create the narrative to their individual stories and reach their unique target audience/customers.

Katrina’s passion, admiration, and commitment for the mental heal community occurred after her personal experience in having what some would call a “nervous breakdown.” At that time Katrina was working in a highly stressful job, she had never engaged in conversation about mental health with anyone, but she decided to reach out to a professional for support.

Katrina learned tools that led her to a fulfilling path and eventually to BeWellPBC.
“Therapy was a wonderful experience and took away the stigma of mental health for me. I now understand the value of learning processes and how to think of things differently.  It really blessed me and ignited a passion within me to show others that, it is okay to not be okay, truly.” “My desire is to be a liaison, a connector, a voice for the community, so that no one feels forgotten.”

Katrina earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Organizational Management/
Concentration - Organizational Behavior from Palm Beach Atlantic University.
